How slow cold-pressing keeps our oils fresh and potent. Most cosmetic oils are extracted with heat and solvents: fast, cheap, and devastating to the delicate compounds that make a botanical worth pressing in the first place. Antioxidants oxidise, aromatics flatten, and what remains is a technically perfect, spiritually empty oil.
Cold pressing is the opposite bargain. Stone mills turn slowly, temperatures never rise, and a fraction of the oil is recovered — but that fraction carries everything: the polyphenols, the scent, the strange green aliveness of the grove it came from.
What heat takes
Heat hurries. Cold remembers. Every drop of our oil chose the slower path.
Fourteen botanicals, one press
Our Huile Botanique and the squalane heart of Sérum d’Or are pressed this way, from Andalusian olives harvested by a family we have worked with for a decade. Fourteen botanicals rest in that base before it is bottled — a slow infusion, tasted weekly, released only when the atelier agrees it is ready.
It takes months. Your skin will know exactly where the time went.
